FinALS ugh...

So yesterday I had a fabulous date with Mikey. (will post pictures soon) Now I am studying (a rather rare occurrence). I have a final Monday and one Tuesday. Huh now that I think of it Monday's is pediatrics and Tuesday's is geriatrics-that kinda funny.

Anyways...gotta study now-the rest of my week will be pretty busy-tonight I plan on attending girls night out (while our musician boys are practicing). then Friday -study some more during the day and Saturday will be my 3rd and final b-day celebration and Sunday I'm hitting the beach (I really need it my legs look like white tapper candles).

Birthday Present

Look what I got for my b-day!!! Mikey bought it for me and had it sent to my house. He told me he had a package coming and that it was some DVDs he had ordered..so when it arrived i thought nothing of it, then i decided to open it to make sure they were the right ones...imagine my surprise when i found this!!! needless to say he was not a happy camper, but he let me start watching anyways- BEFORE my b-day :D (its five hours worth of P&P!!

Birthday

2 days till my official b-day. yesterday I had a little get together with my family in Miami-will post pictures soon. Mikey did everything. I love u! Then Wed. (on my actual b-day) we have a date just me n him :) and then on the weekend we will do a little celebration in Broward. Yay 3 b-days!!

Did You Know

As you know I am a physical therapy student. As such i was informed recently that many disabled children have trouble buying shoes because of differences in their feet. Mostly everywhere they go they have to purchase two pairs of shoes and are charged two pairs of shoes. but at Nordstrom, they figure it's not the kids fault their feet are different and they only charge one pair! Isn't that great?! Go Nordstrom!! Major Kuddos!

What I did this weekend

Friday Mikey picked me up and we went to his house. There we had veggie soup (we've now decided to go full vegan- we were vegetarian before) and talked till 1:00 in the morning! (we had alot to catch up) then woke up early sat morning, went to church, ate lunch at a friends house then visited our good friends Danny n Delfina and baby Anabela. At night we ordered cheeseless pizza and watched The Bank Job (which was ok except for all the nudity). Sunday we watched Definately Maybe which was great!! my kinda movie!! Everyone go watch it. and then we went to our friends Diana and Dienaro's pool and met up with other friends there. We played this brazilian card game called truco which i lost. then we went to Ross and Debbie's and baby Rachels'house!

So mission complete- we visited our friends (some we barely saw though), watched Definately, Maybe, and spent time with Mikey's family...

This morning I missed class again cause I couldn't get up (we got here last night like at 2am) so i went to publix and picked up some groceries.

FYI!!! My birthday's in 9 days!!!!!!

Meet Noah

This is my nephew Noah. He's the most caring, beautiful, smart little boy ever. He calls me babbi for some reason. He's only 19 months old and he can already play the guitar like a rock star. I love him!

Happy Weekend!

This weekend I am spending with Mikey and his family up in Fort Lauderdale or as some like to call FTL hehe. It's about time!! I miss my FTL family! and all my friends! yay!! So Mikey should be picking me up any minute...

Baby Shower

Not really much on my mind today sooo... here are some pics of my friend Delfina's baby shower. Ana and Suzy did the flowers...i helped too. Anyways it was beautiful and simple. Just some rose balls with pink and yellow roses and simple pink rose bouquets at each table. It was a very sweet tea party themed baby shower.

Side note: Mikey's sick today :( promise i'll have better posts as soon as he gets better.

P.S. We were able to sell our Dave Matthews tickets in time! yay!!!

Covers for Cute Baby Feet

I found these cute little alternatives to the common baby shoe. I love them! The first one is from Bobux. They are the best shoe ever. Comfortable and functional (they don't fall off!) and the other two are from Trumpette- Little socks made to look like shoes...GENIUS!

Weekend Round up

Nothing special this weekend. Except Friday night when we went to see Gates of Pearl's (GOP) debut performance. They were amazing, people loved them and wanted to know if they had a CD out! hopefully soon... Saturday was my cousins b-day we had a nice vegan blueberry cake. Sunday I had a big assignment for school to do (which i missed class this morning to finish so i can turn it in this afternoon). Anyways, here a pic of GOP, the one on the right corner is pretty cute huh ;)

Gates of Pearl

My Latest fascination- Fascinators

Oh these are sooo lovely!! I love fascinators, they are just so chique. Inspired by this post from A Cup of Jo, I found this site that sells them. Most of the fascinator sites out there, however, are British. We NEED to adopt this tradition in our country!

I've been looking at baby stuff alot lately, mostly because of my beautiful little nephew. I found these beautiful little wooden retro bikes on this website. They are just too cute.

Bath in a Bucket!

At first, I just thought this was hilarious!!! bathing a baby in a bucket! but actually it is very cost effective, the bucket is cute and cheap and you save tons of water! Hurray for bathing buckets! (they're actually called washpods)

Blogging Through Class

hmm.... so yes I'm in the middle of a geriatrics class, but it just occurred to me that I've been blogging now for about a month and a half and I really havent said anything about who I am! So here's alittle info on myself just incase anyone's reading and curious:

My name is Rebeca (not babbi- my beautiful little nephew calls me babbi) I was born in Recife, Brazil a beautiful tropical city full of amazing beaches. We migrated to the US when I was 5 years old to Miami, and I've been here ever since. I LOVE miami!! Beautiful weather, gorgeous beaches, lots of diversity and culture! I love everything about it. I am the middle child (older sister and younger brother). I am currently 24 but my b-day is right around the corner!!! I went to winston park and Kenwood elementary, Glades Middle, Miami Killian senior high and graduated from Greater Miami Academy, I have a bachelors in health sciences and will graduate in August 2009 with a doctorate in physical therapy. I go to church every Saturday (I am a seventh day adventist) and that is a big part of my life. I have the most amazing, smart, kind, beautiful boyfriend ever- Mikey who is also brazilian and completes me in every way. And who lives too far (fort Lauderdale ~40 minutes away). I also have a beautiful nephew- Noah, who is stuck to me. Children in general congregate around me and I love them dearly. I am chronically happy, kinda childish, and love pretty things, good ideas and pretty places...

Look what I found at Barnes n Nobles yesterday in Miracle Mile!!! It's the Jane Austen complete novels- LEATHERBOUND! Oh it's just beautiful...too bad I already have the paperback and Mikey wouldn't buy me another one :( Get if for yourselves if you do not have it already. I mean do it quick! here! It's only $16!!!

Dave Matthews Band Tickets

Ana and Suzy Wedding

The groom actually made the structure. Ana and Suzy covered it with beautiful orange flowers and pearls. It was stunning- the pictures are not doing it justice (the only ones I could find).

Tea Cup of the Future

I was doing a search on tea cups (I know, but I love them!!!) and I stumbled upon this freagin AWESOME tea cup from Bodum on this site!!! Apparently the outside of the cup never gets hot cause the beverage is held on the inside cup! genius! and it looks very cool!! I want! 

Pics from the Trip

Our trip was great! We left Thursday and went straight to the outlet mall. Then Friday we went to Magic Kingdom. Saturday we went to church and hit up Wal-mart for some necessities and some goodies. Then Sunday we hit up the outlets again and the Mall at the Millenia (which is fabulous by the way).

Vegan Spread Recipe

I made this recipe with my cousin and it was amazing!!! Ok so ur probably going to have to go out and buy these ingredients (some of which I was unaware existed) but the end result is great and very healthy!

1/4 cup onion, diced

1 TBS olive oil

1/4 cup nutritional yeast

3 TBS rolled oats

1 TBS tahini

2 TBS arrowroot

2 TBS lemon juice

1/2 tsp sea salt

Saute onion in olive oil until browned. Place onions in blender. Add remaining ingredients. Process until smooth.

Pour into sauce pan. Cook over medium heat. Stir constantly until very thick. Enjoy with wheat toast or pita :)
