I am Jobless

Today was my last day at work and I am heartbroken. Got a constant feeling of..."something not good" in the pit of my stomach. Gonna miss the Accelerated girls...

Tomorrow is my bday. and Sunday we will have a pool party. Hope that will lift my spirits. Happy Weekend peeps.

Bday!

Still no word from the apartment people. Today I plan on sending some resumes in (even to places that are not hiring, as long as they are in the area. They may not be aware that they need another PT. A fabulous one! named REBECA. ok anyways..)

With all this craziness, I almost forgot that my Bday is this SAturday! I will be having a little pool party as always, this time at my sister's house. I'm excited! What do I want for my bday you ask??? Oh a place to live would be nice...maybe a job....or maybe my family and friends could all move to California? along with my boss and co-workers...Not gonna happen???

I guess what I really want is to just spend some time with my family and closest friends. We really can't afford to be buying gifts right now anyways with all our moving expenses and me not having a job and all...But don't you worry. As soon as we get settled I'm buying myself a belated bday gift ;P

California PT license

I got a letter from the Board of Physical Therapy of California stating that I can work in California under the direct supervision of another licensed PT until I get my license! Which is great news and means I don't have to wait until I have a license to find a job!!! SO I got on that as soon as I found out. I am on "faxing resume mode". After sending about 4 last night, I actually got 2 responses today! good sign right?? I hope so! I also paid for the Laws exam I have to take to complete my application, now I wait for a letter in the mail so I can schedule to take the test. Confession: I have not started studying.

We still don't have a place to live but there are two main candidates we are trying to get (none from the previous posts). We have sent applications but these people want to know that I have a job lined up in California! anyways I will post picture once we definitely have a place.

Still haven't packed. Mikey is still not fully registered for classes -except for one elective: drums. hmmm...I don't think the apartment people will like that either...

Updates

Hey everyone! Hope everyone had an awesome weekend. I think I did everything I wanted to do this weekend! Spent lots of time with my family, saw a movie, went to the beach as u can see above!!! It was lovely!

Yesterday I was taken on a roller coaster ride. Just kinda started to feel...I guess kinda out of control. I came to the realization that in a week I wont have a job, we have no place to live in Cali, and Mikey still isn't registered for classes....

Things have changed a little. Will update soon. Stay posted!!!

The Loft

So Loft=No storage. Mikey probably thinks I'm obsessed with closets but the truth is, it is a hassle! every. day. My closet is tiny, so everyday i'm shoving everything in, pulling something out and pulling out 3 other pieces with it. Dreading laundry day cause there's not enough room for all my clothes- not that I have a lot, I don't! So I was hoping with the move I would get a little bigger closet. This loft looks so cute, despite being tiny and having NO storage! It's in a really great area. But I just don't know if that is worth the daily struggle...

Check out how cute!

The kitchen actually has a fridge AND a dishwasher??!! wow.

Is this where the bed goes??

But look how cute the street is...

Apartment searching

Wow this apt searching thing has been SO HARD. Today Mikey was on his way to this little one bedroom we liked (that was more of a studio) when he decided to stop and see 2 more apts. Of course he saw a really, really nice one and we got all excited only to find out they had another application that was already being processed. And now he doesn't like the little one bedroom apt anymore!!

Needless to say, we are both really upset right now. Today is his last day there and he is scrambling to see apts. Here are two options:

First one up: Not too shabby, like the fireplace...No fridge (yes alot of times there is NO FRIDGE, go figure)

Now this next one looks really great except I don't really like the building. But I LOVE the hardwood floors! and the kitchen! but again...no fridge.

He's looking at a loft as we speak. I'll keep you posted and let you know which one we picked. If we pick one....

Downgrading

So, I've been so busy lately. Not having Mikey around stinks!! He usually helps me so much! Makes my lunch, cleans the dishes...having to do EVERYTHING on my own sux! Anyways, we've realized, as he searches apartment after apartment, that most likely we are going to have to downgrade. How do you down grade from a tiny one bedroom apartment, where people have to walk through your room to use the bedroom, you ask? You move into a TINIER one bedroom apartment in California with no central AC, where you may have to pay rent for a fridge. You do this, Oh yeah, and you PAY MORE. Well, here's hoping i get a little salary boost! hopefully.

So yes, we are scrambling to find a place so that we have an address to send our things to. and so that we have a date that we have to be there by, so that we can figure out when we are leaving. Meanwhile I am collecting boxes and looking forward to having my baldy back. Nothing like a little distance to remind you how helpless you are without the one you love. and I love HIM!

Aren't they the cutest?! and then we came home Sunday and got everything together for Mikey's California trip. Let's just hope he finds us a beautiful place! We started collecting boxes.

And we are starting to figure out what we are going to do with unwanted things. LIke this beautiful TV/stand combo! lol any takers???

Our Brazil Trip

I realized I have mentioned NOTHING about our recent trip to Brazil, sooo...i've posted a short summary in pictures:

This was a beautiful beach, very private.

We spent our first weekend in Brazil in the country for "Sao Joao" -which is a Holiday celebrating the harvest. So everyone goes to the country and eats lots of wonderful food-mainly made from corn.

The streets were decorated for the holiday in colorful flags-as is the custom. It looks SO beautiful and happy! Made me want to do this to a part of my house...maybe the balcony?? hehe maybe not.

Love this pic of the lights at night.

This little sign was in a little bar we went into. It mean "street of kisses", isn't that sweet?! I want that sign!

On the beach! This is winter in the northeast of Brazil people!

Me and my grandaddy! He turned 80 while we were there! and still going strong! and looking good I might add!

Olinda. one of my favorite places. This city is full of hills that over look the big city of Recife. All the houses are stuck together but each are painted a different color!

So there you have it!

PS: pics taken by my talented husband ;)

Things we've checked off the list

-Transfer my PT license to California
-Get letter of completion from FIU
-Get finger prints done at police department.
-Send in docs to Cali
-Sit for the laws exam
-Book Mikey a flight to Cali to find us a place to live
-rent a car and find a place to stay (hopefully for free with someone we know)
-Find a place to live
-Get a job (me)
-Re-vamp resume and send away
-Reserve a uhaul truck w/car rig
-Get boxes and packing equipment
-Pack
-Give away/get rid of unwanted stuff
-Map out our move across the country-stops, hotels, sights, etc..
-Change address of all our bills, netflix, memberships, etc...

We were able to book Mikey a flight using our points form our Amex. He'll be gone 4 days next week :( SO we are doing research so when he gets there, he will know where to look. Tomorrow I will get my fingerprints done...

Weekend Round UP

This was one. LAZY. weekend. I slept. and slept. and slept. It was wonderful. I can't remember the last time I rested so much. Then Sunday we planned on going to Miami and we almost made it there. We got half way there when we decided to call the fam to see who's house we were going to got to and realized no one was home. SO we turned back. and had a lazy Sunday at the pool with our friends. I was craving the pool! the weather has been so scorching hot! and then we had some lovely SUSHI! YUM!

On another note, my lovely friend Delfina had her BEAUTIFUL baby girl today. Congrats! and welcome baby Delfina Luna! Finally seeing her after 9 months of looking at Delfina's belly and wondering what she was going to look like was so sweet!! Really made me wish she was mine. hehe

No but really, I think I want a baby so badly that I get angry at Mikey for not giving me one. I've wanted to be a mother for as long as I can remember, but it just hasn't been the right time yet. But then again people always say: "there is no such thing as the right time to have a baby, you just do it and things fall into place". Now I don't know if that's true cause if you're 28, and married and a professional, how could that NOT be the right time? I guess if you have a pending move across the country, to a state you've never been before, with no one you know and no family. oh and no job as of July 29th and no place to live yet.

Speaking of which, I had to write a letter of resignation. That was a first. I totally just google it and made some minor tweaks. It went something like this:

Dear (BOSS),

It is with regret that I must inform you of my resignation, effective July 29th. My family will be relocating to California in the beginning of August, so that my husband could follow his dream to study film. I have enjoyed my position here tremendously, and am sad to be leaving such a wonderful work environment.

Please let me know if there is any way I can assist you during my remaining time here. Thank you for your understanding.

Sincerely,

Me

hahaha pretty good huh? anyways....I gotta go to sleep. and hope my husband gives me a massage-my back is KILLING me. which brings me to: i'm getting old. I need a baby.

Simple vegan ice cream

So last night was girls night and we attempted to make home made ice cream on my friend Delfina's brand new ice cream maker...Thaaaat didn't go so well. We only iced the bowl 3 hours instead of the recommended 16-24. Go figure?!! Anyways, I was frustrated, and still craving some ice cream today (specially since said friend posted all over facebook how she tried again today and it worked perfectly!) Anyways I did a little googling and found this amazing recipe for single ingredient icecream! made with nothing but frozen bananas!!!

SO I tried it and it works perfectly, but don't expect it to taste like anything other than bananas. Next i want to find a way of changing the flavor slightly...

Here I added some strawberries...

We're back!

What a perfect day to come home! Happy 4th of July everyone!! We just came in this morning at ~7am. Our trip was amazing but the flight was tough! I'm exhausted! Spending the night in an airplane is not easy, needless to say we barely slept. As soon as we got in, I was eager to see my little ones (my sister's kids-they are also mine). It's such a relief to see them! Then we were actually able to take a little nap on Noah's bed. Not sure for how long- everything's a blur at this point. Then we rushed to our friend Leo's Bday (he's pretty much family). Yup we hit up a bday party. so yeah we. are. tired.

We finally just got home not too long ago. Coming home was strange. I was glad, it was familiar...but I couldn't help but realize that this will be one of the last time we will be "coming home" to our little apartment. My heart hurts. I think of our family, our friends we will be leaving behind and I want to cry. But I know God is in control. I know it's gonna be hard but I hold firm to the hope of a prompt return in 2013.

On a lighter note, our little trip was AWESOME! we went to the North east of Brazil which is kinda grouped together and referred to as the "Nordeste" by Brazilians. I was born in Recife, Pernambuco which is where we spent most of our time. It's an amazing place with warm weather, majestic beaches, lush landscapes, amazing food and a culture rich in music! Here's a little map in case your curious, the state below the red one is Pernambuco.

Will post some pics tomorrow! XOXO
