Weekend Round UP

This was one. LAZY. weekend. I slept. and slept. and slept. It was wonderful. I can't remember the last time I rested so much. Then Sunday we planned on going to Miami and we almost made it there. We got half way there when we decided to call the fam to see who's house we were going to got to and realized no one was home. SO we turned back. and had a lazy Sunday at the pool with our friends. I was craving the pool! the weather has been so scorching hot! and then we had some lovely SUSHI! YUM!

On another note, my lovely friend Delfina had her BEAUTIFUL baby girl today. Congrats! and welcome baby Delfina Luna! Finally seeing her after 9 months of looking at Delfina's belly and wondering what she was going to look like was so sweet!! Really made me wish she was mine. hehe

No but really, I think I want a baby so badly that I get angry at Mikey for not giving me one. I've wanted to be a mother for as long as I can remember, but it just hasn't been the right time yet. But then again people always say: "there is no such thing as the right time to have a baby, you just do it and things fall into place". Now I don't know if that's true cause if you're 28, and married and a professional, how could that NOT be the right time? I guess if you have a pending move across the country, to a state you've never been before, with no one you know and no family. oh and no job as of July 29th and no place to live yet.

Speaking of which, I had to write a letter of resignation. That was a first. I totally just google it and made some minor tweaks. It went something like this:

Dear (BOSS),

It is with regret that I must inform you of my resignation, effective July 29th. My family will be relocating to California in the beginning of August, so that my husband could follow his dream to study film. I have enjoyed my position here tremendously, and am sad to be leaving such a wonderful work environment.

Please let me know if there is any way I can assist you during my remaining time here. Thank you for your understanding.

Sincerely,

Me

hahaha pretty good huh? anyways....I gotta go to sleep. and hope my husband gives me a massage-my back is KILLING me. which brings me to: i'm getting old. I need a baby.

Simple vegan ice cream

So last night was girls night and we attempted to make home made ice cream on my friend Delfina's brand new ice cream maker...Thaaaat didn't go so well. We only iced the bowl 3 hours instead of the recommended 16-24. Go figure?!! Anyways, I was frustrated, and still craving some ice cream today (specially since said friend posted all over facebook how she tried again today and it worked perfectly!) Anyways I did a little googling and found this amazing recipe for single ingredient icecream! made with nothing but frozen bananas!!!

SO I tried it and it works perfectly, but don't expect it to taste like anything other than bananas. Next i want to find a way of changing the flavor slightly...

Here I added some strawberries...

We're back!

What a perfect day to come home! Happy 4th of July everyone!! We just came in this morning at ~7am. Our trip was amazing but the flight was tough! I'm exhausted! Spending the night in an airplane is not easy, needless to say we barely slept. As soon as we got in, I was eager to see my little ones (my sister's kids-they are also mine). It's such a relief to see them! Then we were actually able to take a little nap on Noah's bed. Not sure for how long- everything's a blur at this point. Then we rushed to our friend Leo's Bday (he's pretty much family). Yup we hit up a bday party. so yeah we. are. tired.

We finally just got home not too long ago. Coming home was strange. I was glad, it was familiar...but I couldn't help but realize that this will be one of the last time we will be "coming home" to our little apartment. My heart hurts. I think of our family, our friends we will be leaving behind and I want to cry. But I know God is in control. I know it's gonna be hard but I hold firm to the hope of a prompt return in 2013.

On a lighter note, our little trip was AWESOME! we went to the North east of Brazil which is kinda grouped together and referred to as the "Nordeste" by Brazilians. I was born in Recife, Pernambuco which is where we spent most of our time. It's an amazing place with warm weather, majestic beaches, lush landscapes, amazing food and a culture rich in music! Here's a little map in case your curious, the state below the red one is Pernambuco.

Will post some pics tomorrow! XOXO

Vacation Time!

So, we are all packed and ready to go. Tomorrow I am going to work from 8:30 to 5:30 then Mikey's picking me up and we are going to leave our car at my parents place in Miami- where I will be taking a shower and getting ready. Then we will head to the airport. I will not have time to blog. And I'm not taking my computer or phone (one more thing to worry about). SO this is good bye until the 4th of July!!! It's gonna feel good to be home to celebrate the 4th!

I will miss everyone! I'll blog about our trip when we get back!!!

And Delfina you better hold that baby in there till after the 4th!!! then you can labor away ;P

XOXO

Acid= bad

So I've recently discovered how bad acid is. I'm not talking about drugs. Let me explain myself.

In one of my many daily chats at work I have recently discovered the alkaline craze. Pretty much the theory is that bad things (viruses, bacteria, even cancer cells) can't survive in a basic environment. Most of the crap we eat is acidic, making our bodies environment acidic. So the idea is to put alkaline drops in your water helping to raise your PH therefor making our bodies more basic. And in the process warding off disease, fungus, inflammation, etc!!!!!

So I did some research and it turns out you can do this at home by adding 1/4 teaspoon of baking soda to 1 liter of water! No need to run to a health food store and buy expensive alkaline drops! Thinking about trying it....

OH The Pain!

Why did I do dead lifts yesterday at the gym??? WHY?? I can barely walk.

Actually I had been looking for a good exercise to target the glute area. The stupid machines at the gym never work (I assume if i'm not sore the next day, then it doesn't work) (and I'm a licensed professional sooooo.... take my word for it! lol) so I found this exercise, I actually make my patients do it, and EVERY time I do it, I get a little sore. And if it's been a while, ALOT sore. It's called the SINGLE LEG DEAD LIFT. I googled some pictures and this was the closed one to what I do.

I do 3 sets of 15 and it hurts so GOOD!!! Try it ladies. Time to firm up those bums, ur boys will appreciate it.

New Horizons

I woke up up this past Wednesday at about 6 am in pain. My monthly ritual. Woke up, took care of business and took some meds. Writhing in bed while Mikey slept peacefully at my side. I guess eventually i dozed off because next thing I know Mikey is telling me he just checked the USC website and he has the answer we've been waiting for.

You see once I finished my education we decided it was time for Mikey to go back to school. He didn't really know what to study, until one day before bed, I prayed adamantly for God to show us what he should go back to school for. I prayed. I went to bed. As soon as I woke up, Mikey instant messages me that he has a strong feeling he wants to go to film school. Wow.

So fast forward 2 years, Mikey has completed his pre-reqs- with a 4.0 GPA. WHAT. A. NERD. SO again through prayer we applied to several schools and again asked God to show us where he belongs. Our thought was: lets apply to film schools but lets apply to some non-film school also and let God lead us. Long story short, we have been waiting since February 2011. We got our answer. Loud and clear.

Mikey has been accepted to the #1 film school in the country. Actually he was accepted to ALL the schools he applied to. It just so happens that this school was the one that gave us the most financial support. By FAR! I'm so proud. Yet my heart aches a little. We are going to have to move. To California. he's going to USC.

It's been a while

Hi Blog. It's been a while. But I feel like my life is at a cross roads once again and creeping in is the need to document. Reading through my old posts was so NICE! to read about and relive some of those experiences as a bride to be, a newly wed, moving away from the parents, making new friends! I'm sad I stopped writing in here!

Quick update about my life now a days: I guess it's been 2 years since i wrote in here...in Dec 2009 I accepted a position as a full time Physical Therapist at an outpatient orthopedic, sports facility. I've been there for almost two years which has been WONDERFUL! I love it! So that keeps me pretty busy...Mikey has returned to school and has finished his 1st two years...which is a whole other post- will fill you in soon. My weeks are as follows:

Sunday: relax, beach or go see the fam in MIAMI (BY the way my sister has THREE kids now NOAH, ABBY and the newest addition LUKE was just born April26TH.

Monday: Work, GYM, Mikey has band practice so I hang out at home and catch up on my shows (Modern family or gossip girl- I know I know)

Tuesday: Work, GYM, then Bible study

Wed: work, GYM, hang out with Mikey, maybe movie night.

Thursday: Work, Girls night with the best friends a girl could ask for.

Friday: Work, maybe gym, get ready for the SABBATH.

Saturday: Church (I'm teaching the kindergardeners sabbath school btw so up nice and early), go out at night.

SO there you have it. In a nut shell. Too many things happen in 2 years so I will slowly bring you up to date.
